Default ATF or Diff-Gear oil?

Does it matter which you use in a Transfer Case, auto trans fluid or diff/gear oil? I have a 98 Blazer LT 4x4... I can't seem 2 find what I am looking for on youtube so I figured I would find out what I need 2 know from you folks, thanks.

You're welcome.

To elaborate a little, your transfer case has an oil pump that lubes it. Gear oil is too thick for the pump to properly move.

I had to find it all out as I got into an argument with my uncle saying I could put stuff in all transfer cases and had to prove the 4 button auto cases use autotrak and the non auto is atf

Your owners manual will list it or you can call a GM dealer with your VIN and they will tell you what you need.

Especially for the Auto 4wd transfer cases (4-button), you can danage tee transfer case unless you put in the correct fluid.
