Back after a looong time
So, I had a 97 Jimmy, long story short, after many repairs the headgasket went. At the time, we just had our baby girl, and my wife complained that the ride was too rough for our baby. So instead of fixing it, I scrapped it and bought a rendezvous (by far the most regretful decision of my life lol).
Not a day went by when I wished I had kept the jimmy, and just fixed it, it was a tank. But just when I had given up on the thought of buying another, I saw a 97 blazer for sale. Same colour as my jimmy, same trim, same interior... It was like it was meant to be. I checked it out, and I couldn't believe the shape it was in! It literally looked like it had never been driven.
This truck was a one owner vehicle, the man was 72 yrs old. He maintained this truck like nobody's business. Underside oiled every year, new brake and fuel lines, full new exhaust, new steering components and suspension components. 199000kms, still a baby! Only issue is that the 4x4 doesnt work.
Seems that his grandson was using the truck, and went into a ditch. No damage whatsoever, and he put it into 4hi to get it out. He did get it out, but then the truck stayed locked in 4x4. Before he gave it back to his grandfather, he took it to a buddy "mechanic" and this genius ripped the 4x4 components out of the truck and the truck is now only in 2wd. Such a silly thing to do, but he eventually did come clean to his grandfather lol The 2wd didn't really phase the old man, so he never bothered fixing it.
I'm going to repair the 4x4 once it gets a little warmer (-20C here), and the heater core needs some attention soon (slight smell of coolant from heater vents, only when heat is on). I know the heater core will be a beast of a job. Never done it on a blazer, but on other cars the job is aggravating and many profanities shall be uttered lol
So I will be frequenting these forums once again, with Bertha II
