Beat up blazer value?
Hi
My son owns a 2001 Blazer LT - but it is BEAT, AC/HEATER broken, body dents, pushed in front bumper (no frame issues tho), Trani may be starting to slip, cracked windshield. Radiator was replaced and it was well maintained up to 100,00 miles (it was my truck!) With 115,000 miles on it -- what do you think it's worth trade-in or private sale in the Northeast (NY'NJ/CT/MA)?

i think you'll make more parting it out
but thats my opinion

I was wondering about that option -- I have no idea how to part it out? Where would I go? My son is not mechanical so removing parts for seperate sale is not an option for him. He needs to sell the vehicle intact.

yea not most people can part a truck out i say if you sell it whole you might get around 1500 but pictures would help us give you a better price
any ways how is the engine ?

To part it out you just post up on a forum (like here) or on Craigslist that you have a vehicle for parts. People tell you what they want/need, you pull them and ship them out, pretty simple.
If your son isn't mechanical he probably would end up doing even more damage and not making any money though, so you could put it on Craigslist and tell the people they have to pull the part themselves... but then if they get injured that could cause an issue.
I'd say with all of those issues, you're looking at $500 bucks maximum. I know I sure wouldn't pay anything more than that for it.

Thanks for the advice - since my son is planning to go buy another car, I wonder if I can get $1000 - $1500 as a trade-in? I know some dealers will take anything for a trade-in if you purchasing-- I guess it depends on how much your spending.

I wouldn't expect to get that much for a trade personally. If you did get that, it'd be because they jacked up the price of the car you're buying.
You will almost always get more from someone buying the car from you than you will get by trading it in.

Trade in would probably get you the most cause they will rip you off on your new purchase. Mostly for junk blazers I've seen roll through my work go for about 600. Just a little over scrap value

That's another option. Find a scrap yard (scrap, not a junkyard) and see what they'll give you for it. I scrapped my old 94 after I was done parting it out and got over 400 bucks for it.

From the description you gave, scrap it. Best bang for the buck.
Take out the interior, providing that is resellable, first and list it on CL. Same with the lights all around. If the tires and rims are good, pull them. Any accesories? Pull them if they are something someone may want. Then scrap it.
