Bent Disc Guard Screeching on Disc
Has anyone else ever had this happen? I was working on a ski slope w/ the Blazer and drove down the fire road. It was a little bumpy but when I got to the bottom my front wheels started screeching like a banshee. I thought I got a pebble between the pads but it seems like the rusted old disc guard was touching the disc.
I cut part off with shears and bent the rest of the are back and it seems to have fixed it. Anyone ever have this happen and do those things do anything? If not I'd just as soon take them off.

this wont help, but i was wondering the same thing.
my rear disc "shields" are half gone. i looked into replacing them but it looks like a whole lot has to come off for that to happen.
so what are the benefits of fixing these is the question.
not trying to high jack, just hitch a ride on this one.

Yeah mine rusted out on my 99 too. To replace the rear plates the axle shafts have to be removed. Fronts u have to remove the hub on the 4wd's. Never had problem with fronts just rears and i just left them to rust. At first i thought my rear axle bearings were bad. Not the case so I just let it be
