I want to say that the 4.3L V6 is a robust engine and it thrives on regular maintenance. Keep it well maintained and it will serve you well. Oil and filter changes at 3k with petroleum oil and 5k with synthetic oil, Cheap insurance when a bundled syn oil and premium filter are only $37.99 at Auto Pars stores Walmart may be cheaper. I don't go along with the extreme long oil change intervals. Don't overlook the ATF, coolant, power steering, air filter, fuel filter, and brake fluid. Diff....... and transfer case if 4WD. Keep them on the road. Remember the occasional water pump, radiator, or alternator is far less expensive than just one new SUV monthly payment. Think about it.
