Yeah x2 on that. I'd stay away from the salvage title.

I talked to the guy a little bit more in depth. He called me back about a half hour after we talked wanting to know exactly what I was looking for. He said he has a friend selling a 99 LT w/ 113k miles on it for $4000. It has a clean title and in great shape he said. Both vehicles are rust free he said. All the ones in Iowa I have looked at have had some sort of rust on them.

Apparently the guy with the 2000 owns a body shop. He bought the Blazer two years ago, fixed it, repainted the whole truck, and has been driving it just as a winter vehicle. He said the frame is good and was never bent.

He said everything he has bought from Iowa has had rust on the frame. These two are rust free everywhere he said. Must be something different they use to put on their roads compared to here? I think I am going to go take a look at them. Whatever I plan on buying I will probably drive for quite some time so the salvage title I guess doesn't scare me too bad as long as it was fixed right and looks good. He also said that the titles are different there also. From what I took away from the conversation (could be wrong as I was driving at the time) is that the truck has a clean Nebraska title now since he had to have it inspected before he could put it on the road. All I would have to do here is register it for plates he said. I don't know as I have not dealt with a salvage title vehicle out of state.

Not sure about other states but I do know here in Ohio something as simple as replacing rotted doors and changing the color of your vehicle gets you stuck with a salvage title (due to the loss of the factory sticker with vin, tire size etc that was on original door) However taking said vehicle into the state highway patrol and having it inspected can get you back to a clean title...ask me how I found all this out

Alright guys sorry to bring this up again but would like your opinions on these Blazers. I got my 92 sold so I have a bit more money to work with now and want something with less than 120k miles or so that is in good shape. Found these three in Omaha. So the g/f and I thought why not make a nice little weekend out of it. We are going to take our son to the Zoo's indoor activities and stay the night there Saturday and check out some Blazers on Sunday. Anyway, on with the trucks.

http://omaha.craigslist.org/cto/2115884090.html - This one I posted earlier in this thread. The guy said title is salvaged/rebuilt. He bought it two years ago, replaced the fender and passenger door, and has only put 7k miles on it since. I talked to him quite a bit the other night on the phone and he said it is clean with fresh paint two years ago (he owns a body shop) and no imperfections at all. I guess we will see. He has the next one listed for a friend.

http://omaha.craigslist.org/cto/2116703902.html - Same guy as above listed this for his friend. Few more miles, leather, clean, and a year older. He said it is in great shape as well. Selling because his friend is trying to start his own business and he initially bought this for his g/f but she is now driving a 92 S10 Blazer and no longer needs this vehicle.

http://omaha.craigslist.org/cto/2109652369.html - Just saw this one today. Obviously quite a bit cheaper than the others. Would have some left over money for other things (mods!) and would be cheaper to register and insure probably. Sent an email and have not heard anything back so other than the ad, I don't know much about it.

I figure one of them should be what I am looking for. I really like the 2000 because it doesn't have leather and it has less than 100k miles. However, the title thing kind of scares me although he said it was merely cosmetic and no bent frame or anything. The 99 looks clean but tan leather is a turn off for me, although it doesn't look too bad with the maroon. The 95 is that same issue with the tan leather. Although it would be the cheapest, it is also the oldest and probably prone to more problems with the CPI motor. Also, it was the first year for the newly remodeled Blazer.

So, I leave it to you guys for your input and opinions. I am of course going to try and get the one that drives the nicest, looks the best, and also the amount I can talk them down to will play a huge role in it. Thanks guys!

I personally like the 2000. As long as what everyone is saying is true, you could get it inspected and get a new title if its done right.

I'd go for the 2000 if you can get the salvage title thing taken care of... if not the 99.

the 95 just doesn't look as clean.

Yeah I like the 2000 as well. Talked to the guy again today and he said he had an offer of $3500 but he didn't take it. Hoping I could get it for $3600 or so if it checks out ok.
