Default different colored intakes

it has always bugged me why there are two different colored intakes for the vortec motors in 1994 blazers i have a normal silverupper intake and my buddy has a blackupper intake same years, not sure of difference if there is any... any ideas?

thats it? ive seen alot of black ones and it came from the factory like that, there has to be a reason why..

I know there was a recall on the CPI engines back then. I worked at a GMC dealer in the mid 90s.

As I recall, the trucks that were fixed by the recall got the silver covers and the trucks that weren't were still black.

At least that's what they told us.

Keep in mind, that this was the time GMCs number was 1-800-GM-TRUCK...A phone sex line at the same time had the same number. I will never forget when the general manager came up to me and said "here, call this number!" and I got the most erotic phone call I ever had with GM. LOL! Shortly after that, it was changed to 1-800-GMC-TRUK, I think.
