Theyre not really rare. From what i've seen theres been more analog dashes than digital, but not by that much. The rarity comes with one where everything works as it should

There's a guy on ebay who reconditions these and he does it on a deposit and exchange basis. Sorry I don't have the link. I myself like having the digital dash.

I've got a digital dash and everything works (after I swapped mine in with the guy on E-bay) Seriously, if you need one he's the guy to go to. Warranty and he upgrades the the thing. Had no problems with doing business with him. Here's the link. They're $125.00 exchabge. he's got some good info here about how to remove and install it that's not covered in the manuals (factory ones too). Guy's name is Carl.

X2, known problems are cold solder joints and bad power supplies

They're not rare. They're less common, but by no means rare. They had them for a long period of time as Curtis pointed out (80's through to early 90's).

Yeah. Cold solder joints and power supplirs. If you talk to the guy on E-bay, he goes all through them for solder joints and upgrades the power supply. I guess we'll see down the road how good they are. You know they are all electronic nowdaysm just not digital. Speedometer cables are a thing of the past.

I agree I have never seen one that has everything work. I remember my buddy having one in his blazer. He had to smack the dash with a rubber mallet to get it to work.
