Default digital dash..why not in 2nd gens?

bout a wk ago i went with a friend of mine and her parents to some hippyfest thing in my area(its was...interesting to say the least, and certain events made her parents not my biggest fans lmao) well anyway her step dad owns what i would guess to be a 88-92 blazer(1st gens arnt my thing) i noticed that it had a awsome digital dash...and i was curious why they didn't continue the use of that into the 2nd gens..i for one would love the digital speedometer, etc in my bravada..so what made them go back to the reg speedometers etc?

Because the digidashes as they existed back then were a POS design and caused all sorts of service issues down the road. GM dumped them from their vehicles and went back to tried and true analog gauges, though some of them still occasionally caused problems. Studies also have shown that most drivers can read and interpret analog gauges quicker than reading digital information.

agreed, thats why I'm glad I got analog gauges the digital looks cool but I figured it would be something to brake a lot. Also I don't like the layout of the interior quite as well as I do in the 83-85.

Z24! it needs work but its alright. I want to do a v8 swap or at least a 3.4 out of a 5th gen grand am. It has 89,000 but hasn't had the oil changed since 60,000. I want it as a project car considering I can get it for next to nothing.

Anyways....I love the digital dashes too. They look so neat and tidy and GREEN lol

hmmm a v8 in a cavalier? I wasn't interested so much in the digital dash but more of the digital climate control, but I'm pretty sure that didn't exist in blazers. my dad's mountaineer has a digital climate control its pretty sweet. I'd love to put one in the blazer

oh that would be awesome!!...i seen a 2nd gen Z24 with a 3800 supercharged v6 in it it was prett bad ***,as well as a Z24 with a Northstar V8 w/ a rwd conversion..it was amazing
anyway you def gotta put up a build thread if you get it,i always had a love for the Z24s and would like to see this one get done right

and i love the look of the digital dashes in general, its much cooler than analog..its be cool as hell to mod a 1st gen one to fit my bravada.
