Default eaton trutrack

well after finding out that i blew out my g80, i think i am going to get a trutrack. now i looked at an exploded view and notice that there is no clutch disc's, yet its a limited slip...how can this be? also where would a good place to pick one of these up from? i prob wont get the limited slip for some time, have to save up some money and while in college thats pretty hard to do. is there a good site with info on these diffs or if you have a recommendation one a different limited slip, lets hear it.

welll Eaton's website has a good 9if skewed) write up on it.

here is a good run down of some stuff to know

according to Eaton, the bearings will go to hell on you if you use Syn gear oil. stick with the no frills stuff.

and heres a dude that ran into a failed unit and no warranty

have you looked at replacing the gear with a lock-right locker? it is a full time locker that seperates kind of like the g80. Powertrax Lock-Right.

Also if you want to go hard core, you could get a No-Slip full time locker by the same dudes...

As for a good Lim Slip... the g80 was GM's go to diff. they stuffed it in everything. you could get an old posi out of a camaro or even a newer lim slip NON G80 out of a camaro/firebird kind of ride. hell the leg pattern would be the same too

or chuck the whole rear end and jump up to a 12 bolt a lot of different options, but each is very different and some are a lot spedier than others. If it were me, I would take a day off, and hunt through a couple salvage yards for a G80 in decent shape. or get the no-slip if i could afford it and didn't mind losing traction on ice/wet pavement

well, no one else has chimed in with a "g80 blows!!!1one" rant. they break. everything does. but they are also a very cool light duty diff and fairly unique in their design and usefulness.

if you can get it for free, jump on it! then shop around and see if anything catches your eye the rebuild should last you at least 43k more miles

mark one, and count it as you spin it. when you hit the one you marked, you're done. also, it should be stamped. you (more likely than not) have a 28 spline.

Default powertrax traction system...

well after some thought and looking around, i think i am going to go with a powertrax traction system in the rear at some point in time, i do have a question tho... to my understanding, this works like like a locker, but without the clunking of a locker going around a corner, right? i like the thought of a locker, but i dont want to listen to gear clunking on a DD

The powertrax unit will have similar characteristics to most of the lockers available.
