Okay...so the other day my engine locked up due to loss of coolant and for some reason the electronics won't even work. It's like the battery is drained, I don't understand that. Help?

Therefore I'm going to have to drop my 350 in there sooner than expected.

Does anybody know what would cause the oil and water to mix together in the engine?

I have a few thoughts of my own, I just want to second my thoughts just to be safe.

A failed intake manifold gasket could leak coolant into the oil. If left unrepaired it will destroy the bearings.

now it's just the labor which i can do some of.

Yes, definitely a failed head gasket can cause coolant to be allowed into the oil. There are quite a few distinct driveability concerns that occur with a blown head gasket though.

 

what ever the problem with it was didn't affect the way it drove much.

it was my brother and he said the oil and coolant was mixing and i think he also mentioned some smoke...which happens with a blown head gasket.
