Hmm...I've had some doozies.

When I was 16, I borrowed my parent's 1999 Plymouth Neon because my Oldsmobile was in the shop. Driving along, I notice that it's running like crap, and the power steering was groaning. I figured I'd do my parents a favor, add power steering fluid and dump a bottle of STP in the petrol tank.

So I buy the stuff, go out, pop the hood, and proceed to dump about a shots worth of STP gas treatment into the power steering reservoir before I realized what I was doing and stopped. I was scared to death but I didn't want to tell my parents what I had done. Finished topping the PS with fluid, dumped the rest of the STP in the tank and went home.

My parents put 250k miles on that Neon before someone hit them and totaled it. They never once mentioned a problem with the power steering

My idiot buddy shows up, sees what Im doing and I tell him its taken an hour and I cant get the damn cable through... He calls me a retard and TWISTS the cable as I push it through, worked like a charm on the first try... I would have never thought to twist a cable into a tube. Hes a plumber, and says thats how a `drain snake`works in pipes... I felt like a tool cause I am alot smarter than he is... But in my defense, Im not a plumber and have never had to feed a cable through a tube, anything on cars with a cable comes pre assembled and I dont have to feed them through anything.

Other stupid stuff:
-Dukes of hazzard jumped my V8S10 - broke motor mounts and frame - wrote off truck.
-Packed my stuff and moved 1000km with a woman to have her get hooked on drugs, so I moved 1000km back... Cost alot of money.
-Lost my weed years and years ago... turns out I lost it in my work truck - lost the job for it too. Dont buy weed on your way to work.
-Couldnt get my fire to light in winter, kept pouring in more old motor oil to try and get it to light on the wood... ended up pouring in about a gallon. Fire finally lit, but once that oil in the bottom got hot it was an inferno for an hour and made a ton of smoke... ooops.
-me and my buddy seafoamed my buddys car in a 3 floor parkade... Firemen with fans came.
-washed my car with cold well water on a hot sunny summer day. pointed hose at it, tinted back window exploded when the cold water hit it.
-didnt do anything worthwhile after high school... should have gone to more school.
I'm just gonna say I couldn't stop laughing after I read about losing your grass in your work truck. Sorry, but I couldn't help it to let you know. And I bet you guys were like WTF!!! when the firefighters showed up in the parking garage. LOL

Stupidest thing I have done is let leschwab work on my brakes. They told me everything was fine, then I leave the parking lot and almost rear end someone because I have hardy any brakes.

I didnt do this but a mechanic did. One time a friend of mine brought his rig to a mechanic shop . i was watching one of the guys work on this ford ranger. He finished this ford and just left it there. The customer came back to pick up the truck. The customer starts the truck . All you here is something flying under the hood destroying stuff.

What happen was the mechanic droped a pair of channel locks near the engine fan and it destroyed the whole front of the engine like the radiator fan belt grill and some other stuff i don't remember. but yea id be mad if something like that happened to my truck.

I just remembered this story because chris made a thread about a rod knock in his rig but it ended up being a wrench hitting on the block =P

ha..My mind controlling devices are working!

I havent done anything stupid lately. My mother did today though. I spent the day with her today. I got to the house and she locked her car door. I asked her why did she lock her door? She said "cmon dummy what kind of stupid question is that"

I said "because your window is down"

She=felt like the biggest idiot for 5 seconds.

Even better...

She calls me the other day and asked to come over and fix her mouse on her computer that it was messing up. I come over and she was showing me what she was doing. I looked down and She had the mouse flipped around top side pointed towards the rear. She told me if i ever told anyone she would kill me. I will forward this thread to her email. LOL

I got this one. Trying to pull an injector out of John Deere I snapped a pair of channel locks. After much swearing and blathering get the old out and the new in. Looked everywhere, I thought, for the broken channel lock jaw. No luck. Start her up and she ran great for about 3 seconds. The jaw had fallen inside the fan shroud. One new fan and radiator later she runs great.

Ouch...

I used to work at Sears in the Auto Center. One day this kid comes in with his moms Civic (all riced out, of course) and says he has a flat tire. We put the car up on the lift and find out that he took a hacksaw to his springs to lower the car. Well, the spring shifted and had a nice sharp edge that poked through the tire. (he had the spare on backwards so it wouldn't rub) We told him we could sell him a new tire but wouldn't put it on and couldn't warranty it if the same thing happened. He argued with the manager for 20 minutes, then the manager finally told him he would have to sign papers saying we weren't responsible, etc etc.

The kid did, we put the tire on, and by the time he got halfway across the parking lot we saw him breaking out the jack and spare tire again.
