First Winter (00 Blazer),Thoroughly impressed!
Hey everyone, I just figured I would make a quick post saying how impressed I am with my blazer! I finally got the 4wd fixed and put studded snow tires on it (cooper evolution winter) and she is a beast. We had a few inches of snow slush one day and I'm in the area that got 24+inches the other day and Beth (my Blazer) literally drove out of it. I'm starting to fall in love with this beater with a heater. Even tho its not worth much I might keep on doing work on it so she runs as long as possible.
Although working on some stuff seems to be really stupid, like I just changed spark plugs and getting at some of them was a b*tch, definitely had some stuff that was NOT well thought out. lol

The Blazers are nice 4x4's.
There are some tricks to overcome these engineering flaws, such as working through the wheel well with a loooong extension.
You may want to read the manual about 4x4 and how it works on the 2000 Blazers. Then consider that braking is not necessarily as good as acceleration.
The laws of physics also apply to 4x4's and as Christine once put it - When exaggerating and it starts to slide your Blazer becomes a hockey-puck as any other vehicle.

When I'm taking my truck to the woods for hunting season, I now carry two sets of chains to help me if I am in the deep stuff. I also now carry recovery tracks. I had to use them last weekend. (see below).
Does your Blazer have the Auto-4wd? We refer to it has having the "4 button" type transfer case since it has 4 buttons on the panel for the drive selection. I really like having that option.
Ah, I am flattered that you quoted me! LOL Yes, being a 4500 lb hockey puck should always be avoided!

well to reply to such a old thread, I have the three buttons on the dash. Still loving the blazer as I put a/t tires on it all summer and it was great other than some minor issues. Although recently I had my 4wd break so I’m hoping I can fix it for this winter

I definitely understand that these things happen. I tell people all the time that just because you have 4wd doesn’t mean you’re invincible. And when it comes to icy conditions if your not careful all 4wd means is more tires spinning lol. I’ve driven dirt roads and lived on a mile long dirt hill that barely gets plowed so I’ve learned early on how to be cautious.
