Default Frame rust ok? Or am I doomed?

Just got my 93 blazer back after 15 years being owned by a relative. I want to know if the frame is good enough to salvage so I can spend a few years restoring it with my son. I went around and tapped on the frame with hammer and it sounded ok and didn't poke any holes in it. Lots of rust and crud though. What do you think? I don't plan on a car show restoration but still want it to be nice when done. This is where the rear cross member type piece connects

You can see some rust and stuff that scraped off or fell off when I hit it hard.

Some elbow grease and POR 15 has worked for me. Wear gloves and tear the foam off the handle for poking in hard to get places.

No worst then mine... and I'll be giving it a quick sand grind and some layers of rust pain to make it look better this summer...

Man. It feels good to hear that. I've been worried to death that it was too far gone. Sounds like some elbow grease and some paint will fix the problem. If anyone has any before pics of their rusty frames I'd like to see.
