1998 Blazer LS. "Heather". Has stock cassette tape player installed. In 1998 I was a junior in high school. I kept all of my cassettes from back then in a leather case. I haven't listened to any of them until now. Most were radio recordings or dubs from someone else's cassettes (Sigh. The 90s were great). I popped in a tape I haven't listened to since 1998 and it worked flawlessly. It was metal and "techno". Metallica, Prodigy, and Rage Against the Machine. Was floored it worked. And the sound quality was decent too!!

I have fun pointing out that my 99 LT came with just about all the options it could have had, including an extra tape player on the transmission hump to compliment the CD player in the dash.

I for one am not convinced that this new-fangled high-tech stuff is going to stick around so I'm glad I got the tape player!

 

Christine I feel like Im 17 again. I've been listening to all my cassettes in the Blazer going to work and fro. Kind of a head trip!! Somehow, someway, all my cassette tapes survived after being in a hot leather satchel for 25+ years. Curious how the music I loved as a teen is quite a bit different from my tastes as a grown man. I do like listening the Beatles (a lot), general classic rock, and country. Good country. Not the new Nashville stuff. Far cry from the 90s!! It's so easy to just kick on my phone with a bluetooth speaker and jam. There's something "sacred" I suppose with putting physical media into your audio unit to play. Imagine our parents!! My Dad said he had an 8 track. Floored!!

I'd love some new high tech in my audio system, and maybe that time will come. No, I'm as happy as bee with the old school <3

 

Those look nice. And are perfect if you just want to listen to radio or have cassettes or keeping your vehicle as factory as possible.

I started with an 8 track player circa 1973. First 8 track album was The Captain and Me (Doobie Brothers). My first vinyl album was Introducing the Beatles in 1964.

Cassette tapes bring back so many memories. Those were the days of making mixtapes for friends and waiting by the radio to record your favorite songs. Great taste in music too with Metallica, Prodigy, and Rage Against the Machine, @mrgaskill!
