Default Gas Leak-Safety Issue

A couple of days ago, we noticed a strong smell in our heated garage. Our immediate thought was a natural gas leak of some kind as the garage is equipped with a built in gas furnace. The fire department arrived almost immediately with siren blaring and checked everything visually and with a natural gas detector. The next day the odor was back. It turned out it was gasoline. We took our Blazer to our dealer who discovered that the fuel tank was leaking through a crack at the bottom of the filler neck. So, we are getting a new gas tank and will pick up our Blazer tomorrow. A word of advice, it you smell gas in your late model Blazer, have it checked before something serious like a fire occurs. With the exception of this problem our Blazer has been perfect and we are very happy with it.

My Blazer is a 2025 RS. Have not heard of others with the issue. The crack was where the filler neck met the tank. The service department thinks the problem was the result of an improper installation at the factory rather than anything inherent to the tank.
