ok well heres the deal they took 400 off the price for everything that happened. My cuz is a GM teck and has been for years. hes had 6 or 7 blazers and knows its either a bad wire to the ECU or the ECU shorted at the sensor. The price to fix for him wont be more then 200 bucks and ill have an emasculate 96 blazer for 2800. I know you guys are saying walk away but where else can you find a blazer 2 door with those miles for 2600 bucks? and ill tell you that a bad 02 or ECU is much cheaper then a new tranny.

The final choice is yours... but if that happens... be careful...
I bought my 98 4dr with 115k for 3995...
After test driving it... and hearing there was an oil leak, I couldnt let go...
I told him.. get the oil leak fixed and we got a deal... so I wait a week while he gets it fixed...
Oil leak turned into 3-4 sensors going out and all the seals were replaced and oil change and a few other minor things that nickle and dimed up to 1k of work, which the owner was kinda enough to share with me and then tell me how much he hated not taking my offer of 3400 with the oil leak... but maybe get some kind of written warranty.... just for the emissions thing at least

The domino effect comes into play here. If you take this guy for his word (and given how much he's been dicking you around I don't know that I would trust him) you may be buying into a money pit. Just think long and hard about it, but as lorton said the ultimate decision is yours. Who knows, maybe it is really something minor.

yeah i do beleave what this guy is saying. hes seamed like a really nice guy and wasnt pressuring me into anything he didnt really care if i got it or not. Its a one owner blazer that a lady she was in her 70's when she traded it in there and she also got it there back in 1996 and its been serviced there every once in awhile. I really have no idea what im getting myself into and if i go buy some kids up the street i really have no idea.

sometime you just have to play the hand. i mean come on its only 2600 bucks right? today is pay day im sure like most of you thats only a pay check right? so what if its crap i take a loss and move on. if it turns out to be a great deal then awesome. Ill post some pics once i get some taken.

1 owner, low miles, we know the 4.3 is a bulletproof motor, you've got a cousin who a GM tech and a discount. Tell them $2600 after taxes and it's a deal.

Bull****. Unless they're used car manager is a friggin idiot and this is some no name dealership, I guarantee they didn't pay a DIME over http://www.nadaguides.com/usedcars.a...da=-1&mi=70000 Average Trade-In. We work on a percentage of the gross profit, so every little bit you know down takes it out of the commission. Even if he sells it to you for cost, the salesman will still make (if he choses to stop fighting you) an easy $100 mini for doing basically nothing. Trust me, "I just don't have any more room" made the dealership a $10,000 profit when Lightings were brand new, netting me $2000....in two hours.

NO ONE uses KBB unless it's someone selling private party like myself. NADA is about as close as you'll get to auction prices, and god only knows what they're literally giving these things away for at the auctions. Granted, they took the car in on trade, but they base tradein values from what they can buy them at auction. Hell, i've had people try and tell me their car is worth X amount because KBB says so. I've told them "well until KBB starts buying cars, we can get them for this, so what do you want to do?" Print the NADA thing and take it w/ you. From experience, dealerships ALWAYS try to give you the lowest number for your car and the highest for theirs. Period. Even if they put it through their own inspection (which it's failed anyways), it maybe adds $100 or so to their cost after trade-in. Ask the salesman, or even better, the salesmanager if they have a habit of overpaying for used cars. You've got everything on your side right now...CEL, approved buyer and a business that has dealerships dying off left and right. They took advantage of us for YEARS, now it's time to return the favor.

thanks m5james thats some really good info. From what i got from the owner is she got something else and they "gave" her 2800 for that blazer because the condition was so mint. untill they found out that it didnt pass from a o2 sensor. Now he did tell me that the salesman was fired for trying to hold info from me. Other 2 door blazers in my area with mileage under 90k go for around 5,500 on car lots and PP so i really dont think this is that bad of a deal. atleast i know what im getting myself in for and i can get some more off. If it would have been a different car lot or a different person i might not have known this untill i went to inspect it and then i would have been out more.

plus i like working on something... why spend more and have nothing to do right?

I love going out and working on my motorcycles and have a new car for 3 years, and now only having 26,000 miles on it, i really havent had any cars to work on. and its not the only thing i have to drive so thats good.

but do you guys really think its a bad deal? would you have walked away?

I highly doubt the guy got fired, but who knows the real circumstances. As for prices in your area, I used your zip code for the trade-in pricing, and on average we mark them up 2-3k anyways, which is inline w/ what you've seen on other lots.

I wouldn't walk away from grandma's weekend cruiser...but then again who knows the validity of that story either. Either way, "the best deal" is the one you're happy with. If you wanna negotiate for me, then feel free...I gave you the weapons. If you're content, drive it and enjoy it.

It's 260 bucks for a GM Delco sensor, they have a heating element built in so it runs properly at first start up. The one you're looking at was 20 bucks for a reason.
