I owned a '96 corsica for a few years as my first car. Bought it in '02 with 80K on it and that bugger had 160k miles by the time I was done with it. I beat the **** out of it, did irregular oil changes and just romped on it since at the time I had 0 interest in cars, I was an ignorant fool tbh. Ended up blowing the head gasket I think in 05-06.
Thats when I got my 99 Blazer and if it weren't for an accident I would still have it.
Now i have my 2000 ZR2 and love it, keep it in pristine condition and baby it unless its on the trails.
Each auto maker has its issues but I will never go with a Ford for a SUV or Truck. Nothing against them but my Chevy's have never failed me when needed.
The only thing to note with the blazers is Wheel Bearing issues and possible Ball Joints. Which are cheap enough and easy enough to do with some tech known how.
Just have fun with it, do some reading and there is a ton of stuff to customize on the blazers to make it "yours".

Dont forget the Pontiac Grand Am. I had a 92 4 door with a 2.2 4 cyl. We got it with 242k miles on it for 400 bucks, it lasted 3 years and after I stuck around 600 into it the motor decided it didnt want to work anymore with 276k on it, so I took the new tires off, and hauled it to the junk yard and got 120 for it. THEN I remember that I had brand new shocks on it, but it was too late, it was a cube by then, lol.
