Hey so I have the opportunity to buy a g80 off a 99 for $100 cash good deal or not? i have no idea what they are worth.

Depends on what you have now for gears, etc. If you have 3.73's, you should be good. Swap your gear over and properly set the shimming of the diff in the housing and you should be set. $100 isn't a bad price if it is a working diff.

is there a way to tell what gearing i have without having to take my diff cover off? its a 2000 2 door 4x4.

No offense was meant, I was just making sure the OP knew that its more of a chance thing rather than ALL will blow up and be a waste of money...

But I understand that if you were buying it to use "hardcore" then it is a waste of money

I never mentioned any hardcore use at all. The g80 blew up in my s15 with a 2.2 on low pros. Its KNOWN for having issues and if the OP is going to spend money on something then why not a better unit that will have a significant chance of not having to replace.

Well I am one of the LUCKY few to still have my g80 working currently
