Good price for a G80?

They are definitely better differentials out there, there is no disputing that. If you have limited funds, you could go with that deal or save up for one of the better options. It really comes down to what you want to do with it.
I am one of those lucky ones that has never had a problem with a G80 diff and I have owned 3 vehicles with one.

For that price, no. You are looking at $250+ typically for a LSD, more for a locker, and even more yet for a selectable locker.

im not planning on anything super hardcore but i do offroad quite regularly... i did not know that they were problematic, is there anything i can look for when i see it to tell me if its on its way out or are they just random exploders?
well there is not another locking set up that i can get for $100 cdn around is there? everything i have been looking at is a couple hundred at least.

I've owned 2 vehicles now with the G80 and neither one has had any problems. This is actually the first I've herad of there being any problems with it. But I will agree that there are better LSDs out there. And if you can wait and save up more for a locker, get it.

I personally would recommend the Richmond "Powertrax" model, not the cheaper "Lock Right" model. They may look alike, but trust me, their not.
Easy to install, and quiet in operation. No additional parts needed other than what comes in the box, some gear oil, and a gasket or sealant.
