Default Got another one.

Got a 2000 Bravada. Has an injector issue, so I'm planning on doing the MFI spider upgrade. Also gonna replace the cap and rotor (ac Delco only, of course) as well as the thermostat while I'm in there. Any other known issues with this year?

The biggest trouble is that I'm having to do an abandoned vehicle title, which sucks since all of the DMV centers in Virginia are closed right now.

Very nice. The body looks straight and the paint looks good. While doing the cap and rotor , take a close look at the CamPositionsensor which hides under the rotor. Look for cracks and any corrosion. It can cause mysterious problems.

If you have the upper intake manifold off, you might as well go a little farther and replace the lower intake manifold gaskets. If the valve cover gaskets are leaking, this would be a good time to replace those, too.

I did consider that, but I'm trying to avoid that until it is absolutely necessary. I don't have a place to do the work at, and I don't feel like fighting with setting the timing myself again. When it comes up, I'll pay someone to do the lower intake gaskets.

You don't have to set the timing again, as long as you put the distributor back in the same position you took it out from, but you should check the cam retard, which requires a proper scan tool or diagnostic app. Just remember, though, leaking LIM gaskets can cost you an engine before you even know they're leaking.

Easy way to do it is just turn the motor over with the cap off until the rotor points at the stamped #6 on the distributor body, then pull it, just dont turn the motor until you have it back in and you will be set to go.

I don't even do that. I just mark the rotor position with a Sharpie on the distributor body and stick it back in the same way.

never thought about doing it that way, good idea. I aligned with the TDC mark on the pulley, used a socket wrench on the alternator, I did all this after about 7 tries of aligning it lol... tdc was way faster and easier for me, but I did not try either of the other 2 ways offered...
