Hmm.

43 knock sensor
or electronic spark control circuit fault

22 is indeed tps low volt


I wonder if the knock sensor is bad and its causing the timing to retard etc and causing the rich mixture.

Ive heard about the knock sensors going bad like this before. You have any pull it yards around? Id get a tps and a knock sensor and see if it helps.

See if maybe the ESC wire is disconnected or open. Behind the carpet, passenger side against the firewall. The circuit runs from the ECM to the ignition module. When the wire is disconnected, ignition timing remains constant so you can check/adjust timing. When it's connected, the ECM applies computed advance to the ignition module to fire the ignition coil.

If the wire is connected, and the circuit is good from the ECM to the ignition module, as mentioned, check the knock sensor.
