I have a 2001 Chevy Blazer LT 4x4 4 door.

I have a really bad wind problem. When I reach highway speeds I can't hear anything other than the wind. I inspected all the door seals an saw the corner of the door seal on the body of the car was sagging low, but I flex-glued it back into place.

The noise still persists. Does anyone know of common spots for leaking? It definitely sounds like it's coming through the door somewhere.When it rains heavily sometimes I'll see drop or 2 on my door arm rest.

I can post video's and pictures, but it's gotten to a point where I'm thinking about replacing all seals. If that's the case, does anyone know where i can find a seal kit?

I read in another thread that the door hinge bushings go bad easy and cause this. Is there an easy way to diagnose this?

 

Seal off the cracks in the body starting with the doors one at a time using some tape until the noise goes away.

 

If the hinges are causing the door to align improperly, this diagnostic technique wouldn't work right? It could still be the door or the seal.

 

Figured it out! The door hinge bushings were completely destroyed. I replaced them with this: https://www.autozone.com/collision-b...26053_932473_0 .

You do need some tools to pull it off yourself though. It's a real pain in the ***. I ended up leaving the springs out because I couldn't get them compressed enough to fit.

MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE NEW BUSHINGS IN THE CORRECT WAY THE FIRST TIME BECAUSE THEY WILL BREAK COMING OUT.

 

I understand from reading other write up's that there is a 'spring compressor' made for this GM project. It is an essential part of getting the springs back in. Sorry I do not have the part no.s and manuf. etc. or I would share. You should be able to retro fit with this tool and finish the project. Good luck. Jim

 

Glass you got it fixed... those door pins are notorious for breaking. I would suggest either borrowing the spring compressing tool from and auto parts place, or purchase one. They are only about 20$ for the tool, and without the spring in place, you will be changing the door pins more often then you want to.

I picked mine off Amazon. Used it about three times so far but it has saved me a lot more time and blood.
