High retail prices for old Blazers/Jimmys!
I really think some of these used car lots have lost their minds! I'd like to get one more of these before they all fade away-I am on my second an have amassed a large amount of parts, hence my reason for wanting a third(and last!)I found nice 01 at a local lot which passed my first minor inspection and while it is clean(ameteur detail) and only has 113K on it. But I was stunned that this facility wants $7K! I feel that is totally out of line as this is now an 11 year old car that wholesales for about $3200-$4000! My initial inspection found all usual problems immediately ready to occur (suspension) I most likely would have to put a $1000 into it just to get it to pass the VERY stringent MD inspection! Then I would have to sink more in to the peace of mind maintenance as well! So:9K for an 11 year old car! Just who do these dealers think they are kidding? I laughed in the salesmans face and got into my good old 97 and drove away! He actually looked stunned! What do these people thik they have? Anyone else find this syndrome going on? What say you? step66

yep. im a mechanic and we do alot of work for small car lots and out of curiosity ill ask about a truck cause people i know are looking for cheap work cars. there was a 99 s10 blazer that came through, he was asking 7000, it was probably a 2-3000 truck at most. i recently fixed and flipped a 98 bravada in better shape and got 2700 for it in a auction and was more then happy. i know they have overhead but still. i always buy from private sellers

they add about a grand or so in the winter months for the 4x4 vehicles, i noticed it when i was blazer hunting. But still 7k is outrageous, i picked up my 01' with 74k on it and in emaculate condition (minus the dog hair everywhere and the lower head gasket leak discovered later) for only 6k from a dealer (some haggling involved)

Ouch. In south carolina 2nd gens go anywhere from 1500 to 5k.

There is a 03 s10 zr2 pickup here they want 11k for it.. 120k miles.
I really want it too lol but im not going to spend 11k on it.

In WI they are usually reasonably priced anywhere from 3-4K. Mine was priced at 4200 on the lot and with a trade in I was able to talk him down to 1200.

I just sold my 126k mile 2000 Blazer "Trailblazer" for $3200. I paid 4k for it a year ago and it had 108k miles on it. It had some issues that developed over the course of me owning it though. The kid that bought it thought he got a good deal and I was happy with the price.

I have to agree that seems a little high, for something that they know won't pass inspection.(assuming I understood that part correctly, here in Indiana, we don't have anything like that) Granted I paid 6k for my '99 last October, with 120k miles on it. But, that was from a buy here/pay here,(credit issues b/c of ex-fiance) and it was in great shape. Interior/extorior well kept up, had inspected before buying, and all they found was normal wear and tear. Guess they think someone like me who really wanted a Blazer will be willing to dish out the cash.

All of you folks gave very good input-it seems you feel the same as I do:THEY ARE OUT OF THEIR F-ING MINDS! Yes:a lot of good Blazers out there still-but I am NOT going to spend what I could get a Volvo VC-70 for! And the Volvos are easier to work on!
Problem is:just what do I do with all these Jimmy parts? I really have a LOT!
