Default Are Hitches for Blazers Universal?

I am looking to throw a hitch on my blazer, I am going to hit a few junkyards and part stores and see if I can find a used hitch to install on my blazer.

What years of blazers should I check at junkyards that would fit my 96 Blazer LS 2 Door 2WD? Are they pretty universal for most of the 90's blazers?

Anyone have experience pulling a hitch from one and putting it on another?

I found a hitch for a 1997 Blazer for $50, will that fit my 96?

Depends what type of bumper you are running. If you have a roll pan style bumper then get one with the same bumper. If you have a step bumper get the same.

Doesn't matter if it's a ZR2 or not for hitches.

I have the step style factory rear bumper on my 98, my hitch was sourced from a 95-97 with the roll pan style. I had to slightly notch the side brackets on it with some flame to get it to clear the backside of the bumper. Nothing structural but still a couple minutes of extra effort keeping it from being a direct swap. So if you have choices I would try to match with something that has the same bumper.

Thanks for the advice I ended up grabbing one for $30 from a local salvage yard, went on just fine.
