I have a 1991 it's 4x4 and I can't figure out what my gear ratios are and I'm not sure if I should swap my rear end with one with a locking diff and disk breaks I'm pretty sure mine is open and it has drums forsure am curious if it is a good idea because the drums are a pain compared to disk brakes

RPO code sticker in the glove box.

GU4=3.08
GU5=3.23
GU6=3.42
GT4=3.73
GT5=4.10
HC4=4.56

G80= limited slip differential

For instance, my 2000 two door LS has GU6 and G80 meaning my gearing is 3.42 with the guvbomb differential. If you for some reason don't have that sticker in your glovebox or its illegible, you can get a service like Carfax or something to run your VIN and find out what your truck came with from the factory.

Ok thanks mine is gu6 so it should be the 3.42 so do you think I should swap the breaks to a disk break or doesn't really make a difference?

I would simply because drum brakes are a pain in the ***.

I agree the rear drums are a pain to adjust correctly. It is an art to do correctly. But I do like the rear drums version of parking brakes. That drum feature works better than the rear disc parking/emergency brakes.
