G80 swap.....
I know that this topic has been thrown around a lot and I've read most of the threads relating to this.... but i wanna try to answer a few more of my questions that i didn't pick up anywhere else. Still new to most of the mechanical stuff but I'm willing to learn and have a few mechanics that are willing to make sure i don't screw everything up.
Today i was in the local junkyard, digging around for a replacement window switch when i got to wondering how many of the blazers there actually had the G80 locker so after going through the 10 or so blazers/jimmys they have i found 2 with the G80 RPO code. Both on 4wd non Zr2s, one with drums and one with discs. I couldn't remember the gearing codes off the top of my head so i will have to go back and check later.
One question i have is... if i find that one of the axles has the same gearing ratio as my stock rear. Is it as simple as swapping the rear only? meaning i wouldn't have to do all the things required with a re gear.

Went back today to check the gear RPOs and they are not the same. So i'm abandoning that job until i find one that matches. Does anyone know if the G80 only came in a certain gear set or what? Both the ones i saw today were GT4s which is the 3.73 i believe. I have a Gu6 (3.43 ) which was on every other blazer there. haha Figures
Anyway while that project is sidelined i found a new one..... Mounting the tire rack on the 4 door.... found one in great condition at the yard and paid $20 for it, $10 for new hardware to mount it, an $8 for spray paint. Hopefully doing that Friday or Saturday.
Pictures to come
