1. Bought Used
2. 1999
3. 4 door
4. 4X4 LS
5. GM Recommended oils
6. Once a year (around 10 to 12,000 km's)
7. Still original engine. 99,200km's
8. Tranny has had P1870 code for past 2 years (From around 75,000km's.) Due for repair/replacement. T.case failed at 75,000km replaced with used unit. At 99,000km tranny failed again. Turned out to be t.case motor.
9. Done by Chevy specialist. I don't have ideal facilities/tools/technical knowhow.
10. Spent a lot of time & money on my truck. Is it worth it? HELL YES! Also because I can't afford to replace it. Used Blazers here are not selling. 3rd most troublesome vehicle I've ever owned. Funny actually, the other 2 were also GM products. ('67 Opel Record & '74 Chev 4100 straight 6 [Opel actually])

As phil has said, I bought my Blazer because I'm a Chevy fan, I like having a vehicle different from anyone else & enjoy the regular compliments I get about it.

If I wanted a reliable vehicle I'd have bought a Toyota Landcruiser - problem is even the old ones are expensive because of this!

1. No, bought spring of 08' (first car)
2. 1998
3. 4dr
4. 4x4
5. royal purple (extra 2mpg on average when i changed to it)
6. 5000 (same time i rotate tires)
7. no, but needs it(rear main went around 167k) 168k
8. yes, transfer case seal broke meaning all my trans fluid went into my transfer case. replaced at 160k. good news, shift kit
9. i do everything but the big stuff (aka the tranny) but i'm going to either rebuild the 6 or drop in a 383stroker soon.
10. i really dont have to do much to her, i beat on her some days then drive her easy other days. she gets 16-19mpg/20-23mpg and goes everywhere. aside from the tranny; all i had to do was replace rad with an aluminum one, replace factory shocks with rough country 9000 ones, and repair/splice brake line that runs to the back of the truck ( the brake line that is right behind the drivers rear.). all she really need is regular maintenance and tires. i would def buy again (but i would love to get my hands on a crew cab s10).

1. bought used
2. 1998
3. 4dr
4. 4X4
5. castrol GTX
6. 3000-5000
7. original motor 163,000
8. original trans 163,000
9. yes, have done most of my own work. changed intake manifold gasket, new wheel bearings up front, new water pump, new alt, A/C bypass, new harmonic balancer, brakes front and back (lucky for me disk brakes all the way around), new radiator, new hoses, new distrib cap and rotor, plugs and wires, new fuel pump and vent valve, new fuel filter, i think its time to replace my fan clutch, in need of trans flush, and as soon as i get a body lift and drop the suspension back down gonna do new ball joints upper and lower and anything else that needs replacing under there.
10. usually i don't have to do much maintenance, it just comes in spurts. mostly just oil change. as far as value goes i've got more in it than its worth so no it really wasnt worth it looking at it that way. on the other hand she's my baby and its worth it to me as i got spent much time with her and a lot of money on her lol.

1. No, 3rd owner
2. 2001. I bought in 2009
3. 2 dr
4. 4X4
5. No, just standard dealership oil.
6. I try to get it every 5k, but it doesn't always work that way
7. No rebuilds. 184000KM
8. No rebuilts. 184000KM
9. Yes I do my own maintenance. I do all of my own work with the help of my best friend who is a mechanic.
10. So far it's bee passenger side front hub, new tires, MAF sensor, new TCCM new connector for the encoder motor. I still have to replace the right front hub, an O2 sensor and it needs new brakes all around.

Do I think it's worth it? Well I love my truck and I'm not getting rid of it anytime soon (unless I find a really cheap full sized that I can trade for). So yeah, it is worth it. I've had more problems with my Blazer then my 98 Civic though. That car went pretty much 11 years before anything major (beyond regular maintenance) had to be done to it. My truck is only 9 years old now, and it's already having a lot of parts replaced. But I don't mind

1. no-no
2. 97-98
3. both 4dr
4. both smarttrak
5. both dino 5w30
6. 3k if not sooner
7. 97(none) 98-new motor 100k go
8. unknown if replaced for either..however mileage is 155k on the 97, and 172k on the 98
9. all maintenance is done by me
10. I have to do all maintaining, Im not ASE certified, however 99.9& of my family is...so the knowledge is not lacking.

In my opinion youll never have a automobile without maintenance thats just how it is, and personally yea I like to complain about keeping up on my vehicles, but since i enjoy working on them and keeping them up to snuff AND saving the money, then it works for me. I would honestly say If i had to buy another I would have no problems with it

1. Yes
2. 2000
3. 2 dr
4. 4X4
5. Conventional oil
6. ~3000 miles
7. none, 185K
8. see #7
9. I've done all my own maintenance with two exceptions due to time/work area constraints.
10. Well, I believe in preventative maintenance first, corrective maintenance second. I rebuilt the entire front end last year, not because it needed it but because I had so many miles on it. I'll be getting the tranny rebuilt for the same reason. Just waiting for the engine to quit on me so I can do the V8 swap. Preventive maintenance costs are heck of a lot less than monthly car payments and are normally much cheaper than corrective maintenance costs. Plus, they are much more convienant than being broke down on the side of the road or the middle of no where.
