So my brother recently sold his Silverado SS and is looking at downsizing to a S10 style, main question due to price is how long do go for? With regular maintinance of cource. found a nice lookin 2002, S10 ZR2 with 177,000 miles on it and now im wondering how much life it has left in it. Your opinions?

Heres the link- http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/ctd/1652645731.html

That's a great looking truck, Ive got a 2001 zr2 blazer with 196k miles still running strong, considering that one has 177k miles I would guess it would run strong for another 50-100k more miles, I would try to talk the price down to around 5 though

All depends on how its been taken care of and how your brother takes care of it once its in his hands. We've all seen brand new vehicles have to have a new engine dropped in before 100k, but we all know someone who has a vehicle from the 70's or 80's with 300k+ on it and still running strong. Hell, my dad at one point had a Ford Station Wagon (was all the family could afford before me, the good luck baby, came along) that had 310k miles on it when he bought it. He put another 50k on it and sold it when he bought a 100% restored 76 F100 that he had seen everyday on his way to work for 3 months. In short, who knows?

major thing I would be concerned about at that many miles is how good of shape is the transmission in and if its the original or a newer one

This is probbably my last vehicle purchase!

I intend to keep it forever. So it better last that long at least!

I'm 63, plan on retiring in 30 years! Yea, right! LOL

My Daily Driver is my 89 S15 Jimmy with 415K on the body. It looks and runs great. I plan on keeping it as long as possible. I want be able to get antique tags for it. In MS it has to be 25 years old for Antique Tag.
