Post How much do you spend on your blazer/jimmy?

Hello everybody

A lot of car owners like modify or keep it with him even if the repair will cost too much So, Let see how much the blazer/jimmy owners spend on include modification and replaced parts. For me I got my 00 jimmy for free but I spend on it $2,507.

thank you

Well not including regular maintenance... I probably have around 5k. My 2 biggest purchases have been the replacement engine and lift kit. Everything else has been second hand or scrap yard.

Agreed...

To be fair, I picked it up for less than 2k. But between mods and repairs, I've certainly put the same amount or more into it since...

But, knock on wood, at this moment, there's nothing broken and it's reliable

accept for the driver's door hinge bushings, those need serviced, AGAIN...

Purchased for about $3,500 10 years ago.

Besides regular maintenance, these are the big ticket items:
$1,400 in suspension lift (including the new larger tires)
$500 in upgraded brakes/rotors
$500 in upgraded cooling system
$2,750 in rebuilt transmission
$150 (in total) for rear spare tire bracket
$240 Yakima roof-top cargo carrier (transferable to another vehicle)
$800 Bush Winch recovery system (alternate to a winch, transferable to another vehicle with purchase of adapter plates.)

I figure I'd have to pay about $12k at least to replace this with a 10 y.o. 4Runner, the only vehicle I can imagine that could fill the needs my Blazer currently does for me. As such I'll be keeping it for a while longer. The deal-killers for keeping will be if the engine blows (unlikely), the transmission craps out (unlikely), the electrical system gets really damaged (really unlikely), or it gets banged up in an accident (hard to control for).

I paid over $20K for mine 20 years ago, brand new from the dealer. Mods I'd have to say in the neighborhood of another $3K over the years, preventive/corrective maintenance for the past 20 years probably over $10K. More than that on gas for 300K miles and counting.

4x4 with lockers front and rear! 4wd is the only way to go when it comes to trucks.
