I have a 2005 chevy blazer 4x4 base model motor blew because the 2nd gear went out and wouldn't shift.
I am planing on keeping a stock motor but i am thinking replacing the 4l60e with a 4l65e but the only thing i am finding different is one blot hole and the wire harness has a iss on the 4l65e as the 4l60e don't because it has a external speed sensor.
I don't want to put another transmission that is going to give out again later on down the road


Anyone know if this is a good idea?

 

What I have learned what blows transmissions is mistreating them, both with how they are used and maintained.

Once you put in a well rebuilt 4L60E, it can last a very long time as long as you have the fluid and filter changed at the proper intervals, do not let it overheat, and not be abusive in how you use it.

For me, I ruined mine by towing my boat with the transmission in overdrive. This reduced fluid flow through it and the cooler for it in the radiator.

I have since upgraded the radiator and added the largest transmission cooler I could find. I also installed an OBD gauge reader that allows me to monitor the transmission fluid temperature.
