I'm Off - Back in 2 weeks!
I'm off to Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) tomorrow morning to join my wife who has been there on business for the past 8 weeks. Her stay has been extended by another 4 weeks so her company has given me a plane ticket to join her.
I note there is a Chevy dealer there so I plan to see if they have Blazers there & what accessories they have (if any). They are also RHD.

O.K. I'm back!
Kuala Lumpur is an ok place but not somewhere where I would have gone from choice but it was a free trip & beggars can't be choosers - especially if that's where the wife is. I did get to see the Petronas twin towers & spend a few days on the east coast but otherwise there's not much that I haven't seen elsewhere.
Driving in Malaysia is crazy - when they change lanes they squeeze up to the car in the next lane tillthey give way & lethim in.Sometimes they indicate, sometimes they don't, but despite this there seems to befew accidents, they are all aware of this & let each other in.
The worst are the guy's on motorcycles (50cc things), they are all around & swerve in & out between the traffic. One momentall's clear then suddenly one is in front, next to or trying to squeeze in between cars. They ride these buzz bikes & often are bunched like a swarm of mosquito's. They ride with the wife & kids. I saw one with a guy, his missus & 3 small kids. They ride whilst textingor on the mobile(saw lots doing this) all on the motorway/highway. When it rained the other day a guy was riding on the motorway in the slow lane, probably around 30 km p hr holding an umbrella to keep dry. I tried to take a pic but couldn't get a clear shot.
By the way drperry, no Chevy presence in Malaysia between 1960 & 2003! They don't know what a Blazer looks like! They had a new Corvette & Silverado a few months back & couldn't sell it so it went back to the States. The guy couldn't remember if they wereLHD or RHD.
The cars they now sell are the Aveo 1.4 ltr & the Optra 1.6 & 1.8 ltr. The Optra also comes as an estate(station wagon). The dealers english was bad (chinaman) but I understand these 2 models are based on GM's Dawoo cars. The 3rd model is the Captiva which is a smallish SUV & competes with the Honda CRV, Toyota RAV's etc. We have them here badged as the Holden Captiva,(in Europe the Opel & probably alsoVauxhallin the UK.) Both in AWD & FWD with 2.4 ltr gasoline & 2.0 ltr diesel engines.
GASOLINE is still dirt cheap - Less than a NZ$ a litre - probably around 70 cents US. They have their own oil!
More later.
