General ChatChat about all things Blazer (and related vehicles). Off-topic stuff should be in the lounge, and all mechanical problems should be posted in the proper forum.
Hello boys and girls. It's been about a decade since I was last active here... I just popped in to say that I parked my Blazer in October of 18 before going to Korea. After some time in Texas I retired, moved to Washington and came back for the old girl. She sat outside, under a tree, halfway up MT Hood in Oregon for 5 years.
Yesterday I aired up the tires, pulled the battery and tossed it on a float charger, yanked the fuel intake from between the cap and tank and siphoned out the old fuel. Added 5 gallons of new juice and a can of sea foam to the tank, a fresh fuel filter and vacuumed out about 4 pounds of rat nest, rat droppings and rat bits, then I crossed my fingers...
It came back! The battery held a charge. A burst of starter fluid straight into the throttle body and a lot off cranking got the old beast up and running!
It's a mess: dash cluster is dead, exhaust leaks from the manifolds to the tail pipe, lord knows how many wires were eaten, and the airfilter is trashed to note just the very least of my concerns, but it ran! No idea when I'll have time to trailer it up and drag it home to give her a proper amount of care to make it road (trail) worthy again... but it runs! And the 4WD survived which might be the most amazing thing of all! May of 22 (4 years of sitting) Mar 24 (dragging it out of hibernation) Mar 25 (it lived to move under it's own power) Nature camo Starting the de-ratting process... ZR2 front dif and rear end are still in the back...project time in the not-too-distant future.
I like the OD exterior! Good luck. I had mine in storage for about 5 years at 105,000 miles. Took it out with new gas and tires and so far have put another 100,000 on it.
Thanks guys. Had to shunt it back out of the shop until next weekend. A lot of issues: Misfires, loss of (engine) power, shifting problems.
The plan was to swap out all the fluids and slowly getting it ready to drive to Tacoma. Scrapping that plan.
It's going to get a trailer ride up instead. I'll give it some attention in the old back yard and see if it's salvageable. I still have hope. Updates will be a ways out.
El_Beautor, good to see a familiar face (name) still lurking!
I bought a 1965 Comet once from a field in the pan handle of Idaho, it had some moss growing on it, but my moss story doesn't hold a candle to yours! LOL
PIc here if I can figure how to post it,, yepit worked,,, complete with Moss! Are there any other "MOSS" stories to tell? My Blazer story does not involve moss ,, yet ,, but the story continues.....
Moss stories? Not really. I parked it 2 night before going to Korea for a year. Plan was to get it and go on with life afterwards... but Texas came calling and 2.5 years there saw me ready to retire. Fate dropped me back into the PNW and my brother hadn't sent it off for scrap so I zombified that poor truck and will attempt to get it trail worthy before the end of summer.
I guess the moss blew off the bedliner that it's painted with surprisingly easily with just a little 40 psi pressure washer... so there's that
Any updated Comet pics with some slick Lemon Ice yellow paint, chrome traction bars and sweet 460 big block tucked under that hood?

There's a couple of us who just never seem to leave.
Mostly it's just that I still drive an S-series (Crew Cab Sonoma) and I like it here. It's a pretty helpful community, and even as people come and go, the BF always seems to have people who really enjoy helping others.

The Comet, has been attracting parts, but it's not a runner yet. I have a straight axle for it, and a narrowed 9in Ford rear endw/ Posi, with old school tires and wheels, N 50 15's, a Muncie 4 spd, a motor and a gas tank, it's coming along...
