Lost our Blazer to a careless driver.

Yep - No time to react to his careless descision last night.

My wife and I both went to the hospital and got all kinds of x-rays and my wife and I are ok, but a little sore and still shocked.

60~76 MPH combined speed at imapct and then hit a pole and spun around it before coming to a stop.

Thank God our two-year-old was still at the sitters. We were on our way to pic her up.

The impact was enough to shatter my front wheel and blow the passenger door skin completely off of the Honde Civic.

Again, we are OK.

P.S. Always tie down(I sure did) your gear in the back and have some rock sliders made... I firmly believe it kept the Honda Civic from crushing in the driver's side door!

Thogert 12-22-2011 07:08 PM

Dang, that sucks man. Good thing you guys were ok though.

TheRandom1 12-22-2011 07:09 PM

Holy crap man! Glad to hear you are both OK. What happened?

xgiovannix12 12-22-2011 07:11 PM

wow that was some ride im happy you guys are alright and glad that your child was at the sitters still

Bigringtravis 12-22-2011 07:21 PM

The driver of the Civic raced through a left turn yield on green. Funny part was, the guy that went before him cut it closer than I like so I blew my horn and flashed the high-beams at him.

Last thing I remember was seeing the second car's headlights being eclipsed behind my sideview mirror and then a lot of noise and smoke. We went airborn spinning around and then into the pole that the traffic light was on. Then we spun around the pole. Both of us were facing the complete opposite direction we were traveling.

Our tire left a NASCAR style tire rub mark up by the rear quarter window - Both the passenger side windows were blown out and the door skin too.

is the insurance buying the truck off you ?

btmbass 12-22-2011 07:40 PM

I'm glad to hear everyone is ok! Your truck was my favorite on the site. I used it for getting ideas about my truck a lot.

antman94 12-22-2011 07:44 PM

Damn Im glad you guys are ok. I always thought you had a great looking truck on your sig. What are you thinking for the next vehicle?

89Recon 12-22-2011 07:45 PM

I am sorry to hear that, I am truly glad that you are all okay and your truck was the only loss could have been much worse hope to see you back up and running soon :D

warthogdriver 12-22-2011 08:54 PM

glad to read your both alright...looks like the old girl stood by ya till the end.
good point on the rock sliders...never thought of that but it makes sense.

DKSDAD 12-22-2011 08:59 PM

Sorry to hear about your truck, it truly was one of my favs. also. I very glad you and your wife are OK and double glad the baby was not with you. Always remember vehicles are replaceable, people are not.

Rottidog 12-22-2011 10:10 PM

1st off I'm glad you & the wife have gotten out of that with what seems to be minimal effects!
Also 20 mins later & your daughter could have been with you so yeah, it's a "good thing" it happened when & how it did I suppose.
I 2nd that rock crawler note, never thought of them as protective in a collision sence.

However you continue with vehicles, I'm sure that most here as I do as well, hope you stick around BF.
You seem to be a good person lol & certainly have a flair for making a vehicle yours & making it look good while doing it.
Cheers & you're all still around for the holidays!
I'd be thankfull for that or at anytime after an ordeal like that.

Blazer51 12-23-2011 02:14 AM

I'm glad both of you are ok, but that is really a bummer that is a nice looking blazer. It always hurts to see a Blazer gets like that it makes me thing of what could happen out there. Winter season is here and to all who are going on vacation for the holidays take care and god bless.

tibby 12-23-2011 02:23 AM

.

Wow, the pictures looked horrible. I'm glad you're okay and people are crazy out there. Some have no respect for another person's life and I think that's the worst part. Keep us updated with your status and the status of your blazer or a new blazer. Hope the soreness goes away quickly for ya.

David Hineline 12-23-2011 06:11 AM

That old, that many miles it will be hard to get insurance money for the updates to the vehicle you did.

Brian_D 12-23-2011 12:55 PM

Glad you are all okay, that looks like a rough one.

zr2dan 12-23-2011 10:13 PM

sorry to hear hear about your accident very glad you and your family are still with us my wife and i hope you have good holidays inspite of the misfortune

nascar2496 12-23-2011 10:28 PM

glad you and your wife are ok. The blazer took quite a hit and doesnt look as bad as it could have been. im sure you can find another one, most important is you are ok. I would hope the other driver got a nice laundry lists of tickets?

xgiovannix12 12-23-2011 10:31 PM

my thoughts exactly lots and lots of tickets and even more jail time !!!

Vader 12-24-2011 12:07 PM

Sorry to hear about the accident man. Thats terrible.

That civic looked modded. Was the driver a young kid? People need to be more responsible.

CraigSnedeker 12-24-2011 03:07 PM

Wow, that doesn't look fun. Glad your OK though, better to wreak your car then your life!

Gonna get a new blazer? Looks like you can salvage most of the parts.

Bigringtravis 12-24-2011 11:08 PM

Yes - The wife is all about getting another 4x4 Blazer. She was always impressed with what our's put up with.

Seriously, with my lifestyle and activities, there is no other perfect vehicle for me to drive.

As for the Honde driver... He was 19 and the Honda was modded but not performance wise. The Honda Civic DX was a gas sipper compared to the EX or Si - I know this because when I married my wife, that's what she had. It was stolen four years ago and was how we came to own that red Blazer.

Here are pics of the Honda... You can really see how spectacular the crash was in these photos.

Check out the dent and tire scrub marks up at the rear quarter window!

On the third pic down, you can see the mark from my skid plate angeled across the hood! Unbelievable!

I am blessed to be sitting here typing this!

what are the consequences for this unthinkable fool
kinda sad and im my self 19 years old

Thogert 12-25-2011 03:32 AM

It's definetly a miracle that you wern't hurt, let alone the kid. Honda civic vs. chevy truck, I'll take the chevy any day of the week.

nascar2496 12-25-2011 09:17 AM

wow. I definitely feel safer in my chevy now. I cant stand those stupid 'ricer' kids they always try to race me in my camaro. I dont even give them the time or the day, unless we are at the track. Glad everyone is ok. If you were closer id sell you my 95 blazer lt.

wheninromeSDS 12-25-2011 10:13 AM

I'd have gotten out and smacked the living **** out of that 19 yr old kid. Not just because he trashed my car, but because he decided to put a kit and 17"s on a stock Honda Civic.

Glad you're ok though, I recently had something very similar happen

CraigSnedeker 12-27-2011 04:23 PM

Your going to salvage the good parts off your truck, right? Still got 4 good tires/rims on there ;)

Vader 12-28-2011 09:18 AM

Judging by the Fact it looks like its in an impound yard I don't think they will let him. Up here insurance companies won't let you remove parts. The spare tire he could easily get away with but I don't think they will let him take the rest.

TheRandom1 12-28-2011 09:21 AM

Around here you can remove parts if they're aftermarket and not vital to the car running, so he could take the wheels, but he'd have to replace them with stockers or something.

CraigSnedeker 12-28-2011 09:42 AM

Wow, that would suck if he couldn't strip the wheels and rack off the truck, lol.

89Recon 12-28-2011 12:13 PM

are you planning on getting another Blazer ? I sure hope so and even if you don't hope you still hang around the forum

CraigSnedeker 12-28-2011 12:32 PM

He said on the previous page yeah they want another one

89Recon 12-28-2011 01:01 PM

sorry I didn't look lol

David Hineline 12-29-2011 01:09 AM

The insurance company should own the Blazer now, unless he buys it back from them the parts are no longer his to take.

TheRandom1 12-29-2011 08:07 AM

But a lot of insurance companies won't cover aftermarket parts, so you can swap them for stockers.

Bigringtravis 01-02-2012 04:01 PM

Oh boy, So we hired an attorney. Only because the insurance company, the same one we had before the one we have now) gave us half the value of our '98 Honda Civic and we don'tplan on having that happen again. The CB radio, my Kenwood Excelon head unit, Boston Acoustic speakers and the roof rack have all been removed from the truck.

I seriously doubt most, if not all, of the rims are straight - it was that bad of a hit.

My wife has seperated Cartilage in her rib cage and is in extreme pain as well. It sucks, she can't even pick our daughter up!

Going to be a long road.

I will be on here a bit - as always, and I have been instructed by the wife to find another Blazer!

xgiovannix12 01-02-2012 04:03 PM

Best of luck to you

I hope the best for your wife and your self

I hope she heals soon also

CraigSnedeker 01-03-2012 10:50 AM

Hope you wife gets better real soon!

89Recon 01-03-2012 04:54 PM

hope your wife feels better soon and best of luck in finding another blazer
