Are there any components on the Jimmy/Blazer that are notorious for failing at a particular mileage range? If so, what are they?

 

From what I've read and seen in person/online...

-Idler Arms (Have had to replace these on my truck, cost was $150 - 50 per arm, plus installation)
-Seat handles (Had to replace the passenger side... not driver side... yet, cost was $10)
-Fuel guage reading sporatically (Had to replace this, dealer replaced, free)
-Driver door hinge (Seems to be coming out on my driver side, going to mallet it in soon, cost... hammer? lol)


These are the problems I have run into on my truck, and its at 57,300 miles.

 

odfareal, what are the symptoms of bad idler arms? I currently have a rather nasty shake/vibration at 75+mph, and i think it might be them, with the steering wheel locked i can move the tires by hand rather easily a few degrees.

On topic: I dont know about specific failures at certain mileage points, but always keep up on basic maintenance, such as tranny fluid at 60k i believe, diff fluid every 15k, ect ect. People usually change thier oil often enough, but forget about things like that.

 

actually recommended diff fluid change is 30k on the Blazers according to my GM service manual. Ball joints and steering boxes are another common failure on these trucks, just so you know also if you have a remote oil filter and lines look like they they are starting to leak replace them as they like to blow out from the crimp and that can cost you an engine if it happens on the highway or something like that.
