Went to change the rear differential fluid, just incase it had water in it...

Good thing the factory gasket is still good, turns out that the 7 5/8" differential gasket didn't fit...

Seems I'm lucky enough to get the 8.5" rear end!

Woohoo for bullet proof drivetrain! Iron front diff and 8.5" rear... I'm good to go! lol.

Now I can save up for a good locker, and don't have to worry about it grenading when I drop in my V8... Which will be oh so purdy! lol

 

You lucky bugger. You have the little 2 door with no weight on it with an 8.5 and im stuck with a 7 5/8 for my big whale of a vehicle. I got screwed, LOL. I guess I'll have to hit up a boneyard or Jigg for a 8.5 one of these days.

Hey, at least i still got the iron front diff. That keeps me happy. Plus i checked out my rearcarrier a month ago when i changed the fluid and its damn near prestine in there so i aint worried. Might start to be concernedwhen im rollin on 33's but I'll hit that bridge when i get there.


Plus technically my diff has more ground clearance than yours (just slightly), LOL.

 

You might have a little more clearance, but I can throw in a wickedly good locker compared to your options, lol. [:-]

 

........ok you win. But give me some time (and money because im broke as a joke) and ill have8.5 rear with air lockers, you just watch, LOL.

but at least you've got the iron front diff, and I did see a locker for the front 7.2" GM diff...
