so im driving along i check my mirrors and through the frost on my passenger side mirror i see it a hair line crack straight across my mirror i was wondering if my mirror defroster could have caused it anyone else had this problem i ve had more ice than what there was that day before and no problems

It's possible, sure. Could be a malfunctioning heater element too.

A friend of mine from the Neon boards (used to own a Neon, I know...) had her rear defroster malfunction and got her rear window too hot somehow. Shattered the whole rear window.

dang i thought the mirror would be tempered different to handle the heat is that a one piece deal or is the element seperate

Now that I don't know. I would imagine the whole mirror would be one piece you can order from LMC or anywhere though.

yeah sometimes you get junk at junk yards my time is limited so i would only want to do the job once i guess its something i need to look into

I just bought one a couple of weeks ago because of a careless driver that took mine off while parked from usautoparts.net for less than 40 with shipping, I searched and some places wanted more or almost the same for an used one so I just went with the new one

mine is also cracked like you described. It has been since i bought it. I have a replacement but i figured ill just live with the crack cause i know one of these days im gonna clip it with a tree offroad. lol

got a bunch of stuff at the junk yard for $20, door skin, rollup cover for jack, misc plastics including a heated mirror, takes maybe 20 mins to install it

yea even if a whacked it off with a tree or broke it slingin mud i would still have to replace it when i off road i turn my mirrors in so i dont whack them and i dont do much trail rides just some pasture rides ditchlines and so dont spend to much time in the woods
