If it worked prior to installing the stereo and subsequently shorting something out, it has to be something in the dash. Have you checked all of the fuses? Check them with a multimeter set to continuity. Some may visually look ok, but may be blown. Go over all of the wiring harnesses in the dash checking for damage.

It may be that you shorted things out really good and wiped out some modules which would really suck.

welll i got fustrated and looked today
well just a few waited for it to get dark so i could see if i had interior lights,and found that there was a 20A fuse in #13 in the inside fuse pannel i took it out and my dash lights worked and my 4x4 shifted i put it back in and it still worked so far im h appy but why would the one cause it to do that? or is the fuse just bad or too much ? just curiouse but im not complaing lol
