Bought this for $100 off craigslist. It's an original GM brush guard for the 1998-up S10/Sonoma so it came with a few extra pieces I didn't need. I'm gonna install some Hella 500FF's as soon as I get some spare time. What do you think?

 

The hoops around the lights look a little big. But it looks good.

 

I've been debating on whether or not I want to take them off and make it more of a push bar. There's a few more adjustments I need to make to have it sit right but it got too dark today, maybe after that's done, it'll look a bit more fitting.

 

I have the same bushguard. That upper center bar can be loosened/taken off and you could adjust it so that it is rounded to match the curvature of the bottom bar and the front of the truck.

I think that would make it look a lot better. Take a look at my build thread for pics to understand what I am trying to say. Haha!

 

@ RangerG: Ahhhh, I see what you mean. Yours looks much better with the bars following the same arc. Something else I gotta do tomorrow lol. I really like how you left the bottom crossbar the brushed aluminum, its a real clean look. How did you mount the lights on the guard? I have to figure something out since these don't have light brackets like some of the guards out there.

 

I actually didn't purchase the bar or lights, but the lights are held on by a piece of threaded rod (ready rod) that the guy bent so that they would aim straight, then put a nut on both ends of the rod to fasten the rod on tight, and fasten the lights on. He ran it through one of the bolt holes that holds the lights guards on. I can grab you a pic if you need. There are definitely better and more conventional methods than what the previous owner did though.

 

I fixed that upper crossbar today and you were right, it looks WAY better now. I think I may try and but some scrap steel and make some brackets for the lights to mount on that'll use the existing holes like yours.

 

before you mount the new lights, are you gonna play with the height of the bar? (ie: bring it down to match your early 2nd gen front end)

 

Looks good but yeah, the area around the headlights looks a bit off.

 

Yeah it looks like its made for the newer chevy's and Gmc's
