New-to-me 1993 K1500 Blazer Cheyenne. What are your must-haves?
Howdy. I've inherited my father's '93 Blazer Cheyenne. I'd like to know if there are any quirks, must-haves, or universally accepted / agreed upon changes that folks have come to terms with in these trucks. I have no intention on wild modifications. Just want it to stay a solid runner that'll let my family enjoy something passed down from my dad.
My daily is a 2005 Jeep Wrangler, so one example of what I'm referring to is the 2005/2006 Jeep's oil pump drive assembly. It was flawed from the factory and was redesigned by Crown Automotive to fix the flaw. Any new owner of a Wrangler from 05 or 06 is recommended to replace the OEM oil pump drive assembly with one from Crown.
Aside from some body rust (coming from upstate NY), it runs solid and has many parts my father replaced to keep it going. Not perfect by any means, but I can get it back to a more serviceable shape with some elbow grease and a trip or two to the body shop. I need to see why the rear hatch won't open, find out why the coolant temp gauge doesn't move, and whether the oil pressure gauge is reading correctly (hovering around 60). And oh my god, the amount of dog hair left in there from my dad's late dog is unreal. Will fill 2 shopvac canisters at least.
Let me know your thoughts or general things I should get my eyes on once it reaches my driveway. I've got plenty of time under my belt wrenching on the Jeep as well as an old motorcycles, so nothing tends to scare me off anymore.
