Default Oil Pressure Gauge Issue

Everyone seems boggled by this one. Maybe someone out there has had it happen. I bought a 2005 TB Ext with 64K miles in April 2010. Ran great after purchase for 1 week, then oil pressure gauge drops out to 0 when idling. This tends to happen after driving vehicle for a while at highway or faster speeds and then slowing down as in waiting at a stop light. It may happen 3 days straight or not happen for over 1 week. The dealer replaced both oil pressure sensors, and the sending unit at his expense. Neither of these changed the issue and it continues. The dealer refuses to do anything further and claims it is a faulty gauge which he won't fix.

The one mechanic hypothesized that when the oil gets thinner after higher speed driving, a failing oil pump will have difficulty pumping it and that is why it only happens at that time. I thankfully bought the extended warranty but they won't cover a new pump without some proof if this is actually the case. Since then I have had the TB stall 3x, and act sluggishly. The vehicle has been in the service shop 10 times now and little has been done, most of the time for 2-3 days at a time.

If you have had this happen please let me know. It doesn't seem to correspond with the instrument cluster issues that seem common on TB's, since the gauge registers a higher pressure as long as you put your foot on the gas peddle or speed up. Once it starts it continues each time you idle at a light. All other gauges work correctly.
