Cameron, here's how to find the Builds section and the 'high quality' 4.3 L V6 engine build. Go to the Forums section, then the General section, then the 'Builds section' in General. Under the Builds section, look for the posting : Little Mouse--the 1994 4.3 L TBI engine. by error _401. Builds is usually referring to a total build of engine, SUV chassis, suspension , interior, and so on. This one is focused on the 4.3L V6 engine.
I didn't see your request for more info on the location of the Little Mouse engine build until today. Have fun reading that detailed build--a work in progress-- and others in the Builds section. Then post back with any additional questions that are generated. I am sure you will have some. Enjoy ! Jim in SC

Cam, as you may know , the 4.3 L V6 is a 350 L: V8 with two of the cylinders lopped off. That's good news in some respects. when you go to do an upgraded rebuild It is not so good in others. The Chevy small block , nicknamed the Mouse Motor, has more aftermarket parts made for it than just about any engine. For example, you may find 350 cu.in. V8 parts such as pistons and rings fit the 4.3 L V6. However camshafts, crankshafts, and intake manifolds from the V8 won't fit the V6. The camshaft is one of the key items in any upgrade for higher performance. Truck engines are usually engineered to develop HP and torque at a lower speed--just off idle. Performance engines are usually engineered to hit the peak HP and torque at a much higher speed. So you when you look at a new camshaft for your upgrade, you want to select a cam that falls in the middle of those two areas. When you do this search for the perfect 'combination' cam, you will find that the cam selection is not nearly as plentiful as the selection for the wildly popular Chevy small block V8. For that engine , you will find cam's from mild to wild. The wild cam sounds great, but in day to day driving, it is almost unmanageable to drive to work or around town. I suggest you stay in the lower range of that performance curve to enjoy your truck engine. Let us hear from you as you progress in the build.

The two cylinders the GM engineers lopped off the 350 Cu. in. V8 are no. 3 and no. 6 . Here's a Super Chevy article from a while ago on their rebuild of a 4.3L V6. They got a total of 301 HP which is 50 HP per cylinder. Not bad for a N.A. engine. The GM 4.3 L is an even fire V6 with a balance shaft after late 92/early 93. This is to off set some of the vibration due to the 90* angle of the V6. They used a Comp Cam, Speed Pro pistons, and Sealed Power piston rings. The article starts off with a little of the background of this engine which you may enjoy. Some red neck from Carolina had sent it in to the error__401 'Build' post. Just think how 301 Hp would feel at the touch of the accel pedal.
