If your going to swap out the engine I would definitely upgrade to a 5.3l, it's going to take a lot of work either way but you will get more out of a 5.3l, they are both rly solid engines also...

i cannot say for the CDI but for the wiring harness i know you can adapt your current one by adding two more plugs for the two addition cylinders and a few other things that have been talked about before, also you can just get your ECM reflashed for the 5.3l and do not need to buy a new one, whats your budget for this project?

I`m thinking about $4000...i was also thinking about a crate 4.3 with an aftermarket cam, intake, heads and headers...lol but i think it would be just as easy to go with a 5.3l and cheaper...

wow well if your going to be spending that much why not just got for a late 90's 5.7L vortec? i know you can get them for about $2000 re manufactured and they are just about as bullet proof as a 4.3l....i have done a lot of research into that engine and i would seriously consider it. Especially because it will be around the same year that you currently have in your blazer.

good call...due to the extra 2 cylinders you dont have room to run the stock mechanical fan and will have to install 1 or 2 fans pushing or pulling air through the radiator...here is a great site that covers a 5.7l build into a zr2 blazer

I'm actually very serious about doing that! I found a remand 5.7 for $930 in Arizona (fun road trip) and my dad is selling me this jimmy for $3000, instead of the $5700 he paid lol.

that would give me a good excuse to visit my uncle then.

i'm 98% convinced that that's the route i'm going down when i blow the 4.3 in my '98.
