Default New tires/rims but...

So geez, I got my upsized tires on the 98 Jimmy (30x9.50) but now my spare does not fit underneath. If I jack the hitch up and take weight of the suspension it can tuck above the

stabilizer bar then swing up against the hitch/body but when the weight goes Back on the suspension the stabilizer is crammed against the tire.
I used to have a 92 pickup and I’m sure I put a 31x10.50 back up in there. Has anybody else ran into this?
im thinking perhaps grind the brackets off the frame that the tire rests against.

I have run into exactly this issue. I'm also running 30x9.5s and found I could not install one of that size back underneath. I have an external tire carrier that I'll install someday to address this.

If I remember correctly, I think I concluded that if I had removed the rear receiver it might have made enough room for the larger tire but I have not tried that.

It looks like you have the relocation brackets for the rear sway-bar from the RC 2.5" lift kit. I had also tried fitting my 30x9.5 tire with and without the brackets removed. With the bracket removed I was able to fit a stock-sized spare back there.

you are correct Christine, 2.5 lift is freshly in. Kinda following some of your gear here, except the 5speed and ram cold air setup, lol. The Jimmy has the full lift gate so I’m not sure about the tire carrier. I guess no reason it wouldn’t work. I may do salvage yards tomorrow

I have the lift gate, as do many others, and installed it without a problem. I found that riveting the plate to the gate is better then screwed.

Something else I was looking into, was the 2 doors spare tire holder on the interior, it would take a small cut on the carpet, cutting of the plastic side piece on the interior, and either weld or figure out how to get a nut and bolt in. But I think it would look sleek as the exterior would be kept stock, and any cut work would be covered by the tire.

ok well while switching rims/tires/spares around (I also have a 1996 Blazer) I have discovered that if one was to cut those tire backing plates off you can indeed get a 30x9.50 in there no sweat.
my 96 does not have those so the tire goals up against the frame gaining a couple inches clearance over stabilizer bar

Are the plates to cut off to fit the tire underneath these that I have circled?
