No brake pedal!
I have a 1998 Blazer 4x4 and I'm having getting no brake. I've replaced calipers, rotors, pads & master cylinder & a good portion of the brake line I have bled everything accordingly & the master cylinder has been bench bled. The brake pedal goes all the way down & I can't figure it out..
Did any air get into the ABS module? If so, that could be your problem as it can be hard to get air out if it.
This is what I've seen suggested if there is air in the ABS module:
This is what I've seen suggested if there is air in the ABS module:
- The easiest thing to try is to gravity bleed the whole system, but this might not work well.
- The next option is to trigger the ABS system by braking on a gravel road and then rebleeding the whole system. Of course this is only an option if the vehicle is safe to drive.
- The best way is to use an OBD reader that has the capability to trigger the ABS system, followed by a rebleeding. Not all OBD readers have this capability. A GM dealer could do this for you for a fee if yoy can get it there.
Bleed your brakes from farthest to closest to the master cylinder (RR,RL,FR,FL). Place a hose on the bleeder screw and place the other end in a clear jar half filled with brake fluid. Are you getting zero air and a forceful push of brake fluid at all four brakes at each pedal push? Then examine all calipers, flexible brake lines for leaks, same at the compression fittings. If you are confident in the ABS bleed and still have a problem then suspect the master cylinder or its bleed. Another possibility would be a failure of the brake booster. This usually leads to a firm pedal, vacuum issues and poor braking but a mechanical linkage problem might cause this. Also, check the linkage at the pedal/brake booster.
