No longer have the beast.
well, about a week ago, when we had the real heavy snow, i had been recovering a few vehicles from ditches, drifts, etc. while i was on my way down some backroads, i made the turn that would mean the death of my blazer, i turned down a dirt road and after about 100 feet or so, the drifts started getting really tall, like about 3-4 feet.i gunned the gas, i was already engaged in 4x4, i made it about another 20 feet or so, then boom, hit a drift that was up to my headlights, and was immediately stuck. i tried rocking back and forth for about a half hour before i finally just dug myself into the dirt as well as the snow, and gave up. called up my buddy, but he was too busy plowing driveways, so i called AAA. well, AAA said that it was gonna be a few hours, so of course, me being cold, wet, and tired, and running out of gas, after a few hours of waiting, i tried rocking from reverse to drive again, this time i think i was a little rough. still no luck.
so finally AAA gets there 6 hours later, (they got a flatbed stuck on a drift up the road) and then what do they do when they get there? they get stuck in another drift about 40 feet away from me... so after another few hours of waiting for more wreckers to come save us, i was finally pulled out, and began my drive home. this was when i discovered the beasts fatal injury, the transmission lost reverse, and was slipping in drive.
took it to my buddys garage, his dad looked at it for me, and said that because of all the snow packed under the truck, it most likely acted as insulation, keeping all the heat in the trans, thus overheating the hell out of it when i was rocking it.
that being said, i decided to retire the beast. she now sits in a scrapyard.
after i sold it, my fiancees parents sold me their 2002 aztek for $250 so i guess it all worked out in the end, but i still miss my beast.

lol, indeed it does.
just joking brother. sucks big time about retiring your truck that way. even though i think those Aztek's are the ugliest thing ever made by ma Motors, i guess it's better than walking.
(so sad to see a 1st gen off the road)
