In my 03 4dr 4x4 i'm getting 17.4 on avg to and from work on county back roads but I tend to have a heavy foot and normally leave for work a bit late. Longer trips we've seen 22mpg. I'd really like to see what it's like after I do the tune up tomorrow I believe I can get into the 20's constantly which would be greatly appreciated , more so if i learn to just drive normally lol .

Default Statistics Sunday

Tonight I entered the data from the gas-mileage poll into a spreadsheet (Open Office Calc) to obtain average and standard deviation – explanation below. Why? Because data analysis comprised a large part of my working career, beginning in the Sixties (yes, I am that old) and it's good exercise to prevent my brain from turning to mush. Here is how it looks:
mpg count
09.0 25
11.0 45
13.0 117
15.0 174
17.0 232
19.0 188
21.0 60
23.0 54
total 895
16.6 mean
03.2 stdev

In a report, this would be stated "16.6 ± 3.2 mpg"
This means we expect (for good reason) the gas mileage of a randomly-selected Blazer (for example, yours) to be between 16.6-3.2=13.4mpg and 16.6+3.2=19.8mpg, because that is where nearly 80% of our data lie.

Wow, nice work! Thanks!

Could make it even more interesting by asking everyone who posted what they've got for gears, and if the truck is stock or modified.

In our '89 S10 Blazer, I've got 3.73's with a '00 4.3 out of a Jimmy, running an Edlebrock intake/carb & HEI ignition, and Firestone Winterforce snow tires. Gets about 16 mpg average.

The guys in the northeast like myself are going to have worse numbers than the guys down south or in the midwest. The fuel up here is so diluted with ethanol it's a wonder they even run! Whenever I go down south, my '07 Silverado picks up 3 mpg, and you can very noticeably feel the power difference.

Updating my information.

Over the 3505 miles I have used 206.607 gallons of fuel = 17.53 mpg.

However, I switched to 235/75 over the 230/75 so that is giving me roughly 1.033 revolutions per 1 revolution the odometer is recording. So in reality my blazer is getting closer to 18.11 mpg.

Got to update mine too - wifey just filled the Blazer up moments ago. Last tank was 15.7 mpg. Since then I added a few PSI to the tires, which were low. This tank she got 17! That's a record for the carbed S10 Blazer 4x4 so far. And this is with crappy MA ethanol-diluted winter gasoline too! Can't complain about that number one bit!

Since Walbro replaced the bad external fuel pump under warranty, it's been running a billion times better - turns out that first pump was bad right out of the box.

gassed up today after a 100 mile road trip, got 18. not overlly excellent, but not bad considering front axle is "locked in" and i drove it kinda hard a few of the miles home.
'96 4.3 4-door, 188K on chassis, 220K+ on engine.
