Hey guys, im new. not sure if this is the right fourm or not...

But i have a 97 blazer and the hood wont open.

I tried taking pliers and pulling on the cable but that didnt pop it open so i have to do it from the outside...

but how?

Pull the grill off and see if you can reach it that way maybe? idk

Have someone push down on the hood when using the pliers to pull on the metal cable in the plastic.... and if you have to strip away some more of the plastic to get to it, do so.

In the future, all you need is to post a thread in 1 spot.....

Also if that does not work, there are 2 13mm bolts that hold on the hood latch. I had to do this on my car because the cable came off the latch. It is kind of a pain to get though.

I have no idea how second gen hood latches are, but on a first gen, you look between the hood and grille, and you will see the loop that holds the hood release cable, take a long thin flathead screwdriver and push on that loop and it will pop the hood.

The provlem with unbolting them is the left bolt has a plastic piece in front of it and I cant get to it

yeah and you may break the grill by flexing over there....

Did you try again with a buddy? Use vise-grips rather than pliers and lock them on for a better grip. I guarantee, you'll have no trouble. I've done it too many times
