how simple is the radiator replacement on a 2001 w/ 4 wheel drive. looked around and it seems pretty simple just dont want any surprises.

 

Hardest part is getting the lines and stuck radiator hoses off cause of it being kinda tight but its pretty straight forward. Drain the coolent first

 

ok thanks looked to be strait forward just double checking, any tips on burning it to the ground lol spent almost a grand on crap for this thing in 2 weeks getting pretty sick of it!

 

Get a 50 caliper anti tank machine gun. Thatll take care of all and any problems

 

Just think of how nice it will be when you get done fixing the problems others created!

Yeah, as said, the radiator is pretty easy to do. They aren't that expensive either. I seem to remember another member getting an all aluminum radiator (tanks and all) off eBay for like $150.

 

It can be as easy as 30 minutes...

But as previously stated the lines are the biggest problem... TAKE TIME TO LINE THEM UP PERFECTLY!

Because we almost stripped the threads (by we, I mean me, lol the future father in law was supervising and caught me just in time)

 

The worst part for me was getting a wrench on the lower trans cooler line. Not a lot of room to negotiate in there but all in all it is an easy ordeal.

 

I am in the process of changing out the radiator in my 2001. It looks really pretty straight forward and simple, but the guy that's doing it says he can't get the bottom fan shroud out and says he has to take the fan off the water pump!?!

Does the lower shroud have to come out? If so.....how?

 

Nope the bottom fan shroud dont have to come off ROFL I have replaced my radiator THREE times in less than a yr (Im all for tips on burning LMAO). It looked like something I wasnt comfortable with the first time, second time I knew to help by holding hoses, lines etc out of the way so it gave a lil more wiggle room and this last time my sisters ol man was connecting lines and things on one side as i was connecting them on the other, ended up having him step bak n the end cause i could put hoses bak on faster AND DID NO PROB LOL and being a chick who is a lil fearful of tryin to work on things im not familiar with I am proud to say I can do a radiator myself. But the tranny lines are a pain in the A$$!! and they never line up right the first half dozen times so they r the biggest issue.

 

O and btw, have a lil tranny fluid too cause u ill lose a tad in the process....each time I had to add about a half quart give or take
