Really stupid tranny fluid question

Couple of things.
Was the engine running when you checked the fluid level? It should be!
Your fluid level is halfway between both sides of the dipstick.
No need to remove tranny fluid, when it gets hot it will puke out hte overflow drain hose. Yes your tranny has an overflow dainr hose. It hose enters the tranny where the bellhousing ends on top of the tranny. It's about 4-5" long, some years GM added a piece of hose and it drops down the side of the tranny. This is actually a vent hose. No big deal unless your doing river/mud crossing deeper than your tranny, than runn the hose up into the top of your engine compartment and put a check valve on it, similar to your axles and t-case vent hoses.
